Purpose of Role:
The Director – Business Development & Commercial is responsible for driving sustainable revenue growth, structuring profitable deals, and strengthening commercial governance across the Group’s business streams, including construction, telecom infrastructure & services, fleet/car rentals, and procurement & sourcing.The role combines strategy, deal-making, and execution, ensuring growth is bankable, contractually sound, and cash-flow positive.
Key Responsibilities
1. Revenue Growth & Market Expansion
•Develop and execute the Group’s business development and commercial strategy
•Identify, originate, and close new business opportunities across all business lines
•Drive market entry, sector expansion, and diversification
•Build and manage a robust opportunity pipeline with clear conversion plans
2. Commercial Strategy & Pricing
•Define and enforce pricing frameworks, commercial models, and margin targets
•Lead development of go-to-market strategies per business stream
•Ensure deals are profitable, scalable, and aligned to Group strategy
•Drive cross-selling and synergy across construction, telecom, fleet, and procurement
3. Contracting, Negotiation & Deal Structuring
•Lead commercial negotiations with clients, partners, and suppliers
•Structure contracts including:
•EPC / Construction contracts
•Telecom rollout & service agreements
•Fleet leasing & car rental contracts
•Procurement & supply agreements
•Ensure contracts have clear SLAs, KPIs, risk allocation, and payment terms
4. Strategic Partnerships & Key Accounts
•Build long-term relationships with:
•Telcos, utilities, corporates, and infrastructure players
•Government institutions and regulators
•OEMs, vendors, and international suppliers
•Act as Executive Sponsor for strategic and high-value accounts
•Develop joint ventures, partnerships, and framework agreements
5. Financial, Performance & Governance Oversight
•Work with Finance to develop:
•Business cases, pricing models, and ROI analysis
•Revenue forecasts and margin tracking
•Ensure commercial governance, approval thresholds, and deal reviews
•Support budgeting, investment decisions, and working capital management
6. Leadership & Reporting
•Lead and mentor the commercial and business development teams
•Establish performance culture, accountability, and discipline
•Provide monthly, quarterly, and board-level reports on pipeline, revenue, and risks
Required Qualification & Experience
Experience
▪Minimum 12–15 years in business development, commercial leadership, or strategy
▪Proven experience in at least two of the following:
✓Construction / Infrastructure
✓Telecom / Technology
✓Fleet / Car Rentals
✓Procurement / Sourcing
▪Demonstrated track record of closing large and complex deals
Education
▪Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Business, Economics, or related field
▪MBA or relevant Master’s Degree is an advantage
