Description
Provide immediate solution of issues concerning health safety, and environment in the factory.
1. DUTIES
- Promote good health, safety and environmental practices throughout the factory
- Review company’s Health, Safety and Environment Policy Statements annually.
- Ensure that Policy Statements/Fire Plans and Fire Risk Assessments are produced and quality assured.
- Devise, develop and monitor effective Risk Assessment management strategies and make recommendations on the implementation of these strategies
- Review and develop health and safety policies, procedures and guidance, with best practices and make recommendations on their implementation and application.
- Consult with Top management and other line managers and give appropriate advice on formulating best-practice policies and procedures.
- Provide independent professional advice and technical information where appropriate to senior managers and supervisors to enable them to discharge their duties effectively.
- Provide, or where necessary source, training for staff in relation to Health and Safety policies, practice and procedures
2. Monitoring Performance
- Propose, implement and monitor measures necessary to comply with H, S&E policy at various departments.
- Carry out or arrange workplace safety audits and ensure that any remedial recommendations are implemented.
- Ensure that statutory requirements are being implemented throughout the factory.
3. Health and Safety
- Maintain accident statistics, analyze trends and propose and take remedial action where necessary
- Investigate or arrange for all accidents and near-misses to be investigated, prepare report of findings, including recommendations to prevent recurrence and implement approved course of action.
- Assist and support Departments in the preparation of risk assessments for all jobs.
3.0 Supervisory Responsibility
- Assign duties to and monitor activities of Housekeeping attendants to ensure achievement of total cleanliness in the factory.
- Identify the training needs of team members and organize or recommend appropriate training for them.
- Assess the performance of team members and review assessments for lower level employees.
- Administer discipline affecting immediate team members in accordance with the company’s disciplinary code and procedure.
4.0 DEPARTMENTAL RELATIONS:
- Maintain contact with other line managers as and when necessary.
- Maintain contact with management and staff on regular basis to communicate current standards, procedures manufacturing products.
- Prepare monthly H&S reports to Management.
5.0 EXTERNAL RELATIONS:
- Maintains contact with suppliers and regulatory authorities.
6.0 RESPONSIBILITY FOR ASSETS:
- Responsible for the efficient utilization of computers / electronic gadgets and other assets assigned to the department.
- Responsible for the maintenance of sanitary items for the factory.
- Responsible for the maintenance of staff protective clothing.
