Purpose of the job 

The primary purpose of the Market Shopper is to conduct in-store visits to evaluate product 

availability, pricing, promotions, and merchandising standards for a brand or retailer. They gather 

competitive market intelligence, assess customer service quality, and ensure compliance with 

company guidelines. Market Shopper insights help businesses optimize product placement, 

pricing strategies, and promotional effectiveness to enhance sales and customer satisfaction. 

Key Responsibilities: 

• Shop for customers’ online grocery orders, ensuring each item matches the customer's list and is 

fresh.  

• Inspect produce and perishables for quality; replace any substandard items.  

• Compare prices across stalls to secure the best value within budget constraints.  

• Keep and organize purchase receipts for transaction proof and inventory tracking.  

• Pack ordered items accurately and hand them off promptly to dispatch riders.  

• Log order details (items, quantities, prices) in the order-management system.  

• Coordinate with customer-service on special requests or substitutions; relay feedback for 

continuous improvement.  

• Use the Company’s Shopper mobile app to confirm order acceptance, track progress, and submit 

receipts/images. 

QUALIFICATIONS: 

• No formal education required, but basic literacy in English is necessary.  

• Attention to detail and commitment to quality assurance.  

• Strong organizational skills for tracking orders and receipts.  

• Good communication for liaising with dispatch riders and customer-service.  

• Physically fit for early starts and market mobility.  

• Comfortable using a smartphone app for order management. 

Performance Expectations & Probation: 

• Probation Period: 1 month, during which the shopper must complete at least 30 orders (≈1.5 

orders/day for weekdays; ≈3.75 orders/day for weekends).  

• Ongoing KPI: Maintain an average customer rating of at least 4.5 stars and fulfill at least 50 

orders per month post-probation 

Work Period: Weekends (Saturday–Sunday)  

• Pro-rated Base Salary: GHS 320/month  

• Incentives per completed order: – GHS 5 for 5-star customer ratings  

    – GHS 2 for 3–4-star customer ratings
