Kwame Opoku has made his return to Asante Kotoko, signing a two-and-a-half-year deal as a free agent.
The 25-year-old forward’s move is pending a medical examination and international transfer clearance.
Opoku previously played for the Porcupine Warriors during the 2020/21 Ghana Premier League season but left midway through the campaign.
He scored seven goals for Kotoko before transferring to Algerian club USM Alger and later to Moroccan side Olympique Khouribga. Reflecting on his return,
Opoku expressed a strong connection to the club, saying,
“It feels amazing to be back at Kotoko. This club has always felt like home, and I’m excited to help the team succeed. The unwavering support from the fans, even while I was away, has been incredible, and I’m determined to give my all on the pitch to make them proud.”
Head Coach Prosper Narteh Ogum also praised the striker’s development during his time abroad, stating,
“His stints in Algeria and Morocco have enhanced his skills and experience. Kwame is a proven scorer and playmaker, and I have no doubt he will add significant quality to our squad.”
However, Opoku will not feature in Kotoko’s highly anticipated match against Hearts of Oak on December 15, during week 13 of the Premier League season.
