The Eastern Regional Executive Committee (REC) of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) has suspended Agbesi Benjamin from his role as Constituency Communication Officer for the Oda Constituency.
The suspension follows allegations of misconduct, including an audio recording in which Agbesi Benjamin reportedly discouraged a new party convert from joining the NDC. The REC described the party as having become “the most attractive political party in Africa in recent times,” which it said was a reason given in the audio for discouraging the new member.
At a virtual meeting on January 21, 2026, the REC decided to suspend Agbesi Benjamin from his position with immediate effect. The matter has been referred to the Regional Disciplinary Committee for further investigation and adjudication.
Agbesi Benjamin has been directed to hand over any party property in his possession to the Constituency Secretary.
The Disciplinary Committee will invite him for a hearing, and he has been urged to appear to allow the committee to submit its report and recommendations to the REC.
The suspension letter was signed by Jamal Konneh, Eastern Regional Secretary, and copied to the General Secretary, REC, Constituency Chairman, and Regional Disciplinary Committee Chairman.
