As part of its annual Christmas goodwill initiative, MTN Ghana and the MTN Foundation distributed about 150 Christmas hampers to mothers who delivered newborns at Korle Bu Teaching Hospital (KBTH) between 20th and 26th December 2025, bringing festive cheer to families during the holiday season.
The donation forms part of the foundation’s ongoing commitment to supporting mothers, newborns and communities. The hampers filled with essential items for both mothers and babies were handed out by MTN staff and volunteers in a gesture aimed at easing the burden on new parents and spreading Christmas joy.
Speaking on behalf of MTN Ghana Madam Adwoa Wiafe, Chief Corporate Services and Sustainability Officer emphasised that the donation was more than a seasonal gesture, it was an expression of MTN’s longstanding commitment to community care and social impact.
“This initiative is part of our annual holiday tradition,” Madam Wiafe said. “We believe in supporting mothers and their newborns at this special time. These hampers are meant to provide not only essential supplies but also encouragement and hope to families during the festive period,” she added.
Madam Wiafe also reiterated MTN’s belief that its successes were deeply tied to the health and wellbeing of the communities it served. She thanked all staff members, partners and volunteers involved in the process, noting that the Christmas season presented an opportunity to give back and uplift those who needed support most.
Dr. Charles Takyi, Head of the Obstetrics and Gynaecology Department, who spoke on behalf of the hospital expressed gratitude to MTN Ghana for the consistent support over the years.
“Every year, they come and support us on Christmas day, with packages for our patients, and that’s what we are appreciating,” Dr. Takyi said, highlighting that the annual show of support had become a welcomed tradition for both staff and patients alike.
He extended appreciation on behalf of his team and the hospital’s Chief Executive Officer, acknowledging MTN’s role as a reliable partner for the department
