MTN Ghana has recognised its Mobile Money (MoMo) agents and merchants in the five northern regions for their contributions to the success of the business this year.
A total of 49 agents and merchants from the Northern, North East, Savannah, Upper East and Upper West Regions received awards at the MoMo Regional Agents and Merchants Awards night held in Tamale.
In the agents’ category, Busari Mashoods, Holy Kingdom Ventures, Wurbina II Enterprise, F-Numbu Ventures and Competent Ventures from the Upper East, Northern, Savannah, Upper West and North East Regions, respectively, emerged overall winners. Each received GH¢20,000. Other winners in the category also received cash prizes.
In the merchants’ category, Rahma Television Network Foundation LBG, Stefan Akobre Enterprise, Hamidu Ibrahim Enterprise, Adams Broni Enterprise Limited and Sparkles Pub and Restaurant, from the Northern, Upper East, Savannah, Upper West and North East Regions, respectively, were named overall winners. Each received GH¢15,000, with other winners also receiving various cash prizes.
Mr Simon Amoh, Senior Manager, Regional Sales-North, MTN Ghana, congratulated the awardees and highlighted the critical role they played in the success of the MoMo business.
“I think generally, business in the MoMo space has been really good this year. On all fronts—acquisitions, revenue and transactions—we have seen improvements. Overall, it’s been a very great year,” he said.
He added, “Agents and merchants remain the backbone of the MoMo business. Without them, we would not achieve these results. This event is our way of bringing them together annually to reward their hard work.”
Mr Abdullah Razack Ali, Head of Commercial Operations, MoMo Limited, commended the awardees and urged them to work even harder in 2026 to sustain their performance.
Mr Stephen Akaguri, operator of Stefan Akobre Enterprise and one of the overall award winners in the merchants’ category, attributed his success to perseverance and improved service delivery.
“Last year, we were here but didn’t win any award. This year, we improved our services and, with God by our side, we were able to achieve this feat,” he said.
