The National Democratic Congress (NDC) candidate in the Odododiodioo Constituency, Alfred Kotey Ashie, has secured victory in the 2024 parliamentary elections.
He garnered 38,473 votes to defeat his closest contender, Abdul Mannaf Sowah of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), who polled 24,877 votes.
Mr Ashie’s victory comes from results collated from all 253 polling stations in the constituency, including the special voting exercise.
The results solidify the NDC’s dominance in a constituency that has historically been their stronghold.
The race marked a new chapter for both major political parties, as they introduced fresh candidates following the withdrawal of key figures.
Mr Mannaf Sowah stepped in after Nii Lante Bannerman failed to capture the seat in three previous attempts.
Mr Kotey Ashie, on the other hand, faced the challenge of sustaining the party’s dominance after the exit of long-serving MP, Nii Lante Vanderpuye.
