The incumbent National Democratic Congress (NDC) Member of Parliament (MP) for Banda, Ahmed Ibrahim, has retained his seat in the 2024 general election.
He secured 9,150 votes, defeating his closest rival, Mr Joe Danquah of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), who garnered 8,010 votes.
Mr Ibrahim is an alumnus of the University of Ghana, where he earned a Bachelor’s degree in Political Science and Philosophy in 2001. Before entering politics, he served as the Chief Executive Officer of Flamingo Publications (Ghana) Limited.
Mr Ibrahim’s political journey began in 2009 after winning the 2008 Ghanaian general election for his constituency. He was sworn into the 5th Parliament of the 4th Republic on January 7, 2009. He successfully defended his seat in 2013, defeating Joe Danquah in a closely contested election.
In 2015, Mr Ibrahim won the NDC parliamentary primaries for the Banda Constituency in the Bono Region and went on to secure his seat in the 2016 general election. He polled 6,167 votes, representing 52.03%, against his opponent's 5,660 votes, representing 47.76%.
He is a Christian, married, and has one child. His victory marks yet another milestone in a political career spanning over a decade, as he continues to represent the Banda Constituency in Parliament.
