President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo will today, December 5, 2024, inaugurate several hospital projects under the government’s flagship Agenda 111 initiative.
The initiative, aimed at expanding healthcare infrastructure across the country, seeks to improve access to quality healthcare services.
The inauguration will include the Atwima Kwanwoma Municipal Hospital at Trede and the Oforikrom Municipal Hospital, both in the Ashanti Region. These facilities are part of a broader plan to construct 111 districts and specialised hospitals nationwide.
Presidential Advisor on Health, Dr Anthony Nsiah-Asare, highlighted the significance of these projects, emphasising that they are equipped with modern units, advanced medical equipment, and trained personnel to ensure efficient service delivery.
“We have a complete 100-bed hospital with an accident and emergency centre, with a neonatal unit and pediatric unit. That is where small children will be, and older children also will be. With a maternity home, a kitchen, a mortuary, OPD, a pharmacy, an X-ray, and a laboratory, it is a complete hospital.
“We have an eye department, dental department, ENT department, and consulting rooms. We have public health units inside the hospital.”
The Agenda 111 initiative is a key component of President Akufo-Addo’s vision to strengthen Ghana’s healthcare system, reduce patient overcrowding, and improve health outcomes.
