Four first-year senior high school (SHS) students in Sunyani West have been recognized by the district assembly for strong performance in the 2015/2016 Basic School Certificate Examination (BECE).
Angelina Boahemaa, Cecilia Amankwaah Kyeremaa, Francis Amani and David Twumasi Owusu, were given undisclosed cash amounts. This was timed to coincide with the celebration of 60 years of the nation’s political independence, held at Odomase, under the theme ‘Mobilizing for Ghana’s future”.
On hand, to participate in the anniversary parade were students from 24 selected public and private basic and senior high schools (SHS) in the district. Mr. Douglas N. K. Annoful, the District Coordinating Director, said the goal was to inspire other school children to work hard on their books.
He reminded everybody that there were no shortcuts to success and that, cutting corners would simply not do. Mr. Annoful gave the assurance that the assembly would continue to do everything it could to assist create the right environment to enhance teaching and learning.
Schools, which excelled in the march past competition, were presented with various prizes including certificates, footballs, sets of jersey and books. For the primary school category, Odumase Presbyterian came first, with Odumase Methodist, topping that of the junior high schools (JHS), and Chiraa emerging winner of the SHS category.
