Abena Rose, a trader at the Dormaa-Ahenkro 'Tuesday Market' was on Friday granted bail in the sum of GH�1,000.00 by the Dormaa Circuit Court for causing nuisance in the market.
She was additionally charged for insulting the workers of Zoomlion, a sanitation and waste collection company, when they tried to help control the nuisance.
Mr Alhassan Bukari, a Principal Environmental Health Officer at Dormaa-Ahenkro in the Brong-Ahafo Region, told the court presided over by Mr Alexander Osei Tutu that the accused person was a known trader at the market.
He said on September 22, 2010, some workers of Zoomlion Company were engaged by the Dormaa Municipal Assembly to keep the market clean by sweeping the lanes in-between the market sheds.
He said while carrying out their duty, the workers spotted the suspect dumping human excreta and domestic refuse at a place they had already cleaned.
Mr Bukari added that when the workers approached the accused in an attempt to stop her from the action, she flared up and insulted them, saying "go and find better jobs to do, if you had attended better schools, you wouldn't have been
engaged in this dirty menial job".
Rose however pleaded not guilty to the charges and the court therefore granted her bail to re-appear at a later date.
