Three young people in their twenties have appeared before the Adjabeng Magistrate's Court Two, in Accra, for conspiring to steal three lap top computers valued at GH5,000.
The three, Christian Yankey, 21, Richard Barnes, 24, and Kwabena Asi, 22, allegedly stole three laptops belonging to Mr Ebo Armah, Proprietor of Vision Art Publicity Services.
They all pleaded not guilty and were each granted bail in the sum of GH2,000 with one surety to re-appear on November 9th this year.
In the dock with them was Richmond Yankey, 27, who also pleaded not guilty to aiding and abetting the crime and was granted GH3000 bail with one surety to re-appear also on November 9th.
Prosecuting Police Inspector Worae Douglas told the court that Yankey was an employee of the company and while on duty, Barnes visited him.
They hatched a plan to steal one Toshiba laptop computer valued at GH1,200 and two HP Laptop computers valued at GH3,800.
Prosecution said Barnes went to Agona Odobeng to inform Asi about the plan and he expressed interest to be part of the deal.
Inspector Douglas said, on October 1st this year, Barnes and Asi attempted to move the items, but did not succeed so they returned to Odobeng.
He said the following day, Yankey invited the two (Barnes and Asi) to Accra, but they could not make it because they had no money for transportation.
Consequently, Yankey requested his brother, Richmond to provide Barnes and Asi money to travel to Accra, which he (Richmond) did.
On October 3rd, Barnes and Asi went into the room of Yankey and took away the items.
A complaint was made to the police later about the theft and after investigation the three were arrested. The laptops were found in their rooms after a search.
