One person was killed while six others sustained serious injuries when a bus on which they were travelling was involved in an accident near Akorabuokrom on the Kumasi-Bibiani road.
The deceased was identified as Michael Agyare, 47, a revenue collector with the Atwima-Mponua District Assembly.
Those injured included Ayishetu Gani, Joyce Ofori, Kwame Nyarko, Seth Amoako, Kwame Atta and Anane Appiah.
They are receiving treatment at the Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital, while the driver of the vehicle, known only as Nurudeen, is on the run.
Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Ernest Ofori, Nyinahin District Commander, told the Ghana News Agency that the vehicle was travelling from
Kumasi to Debra Camp.
On reaching a spot near Akorabuokrom one of the back tyres burst and the driver lost control of the bus and run into a valley.
The body of the deceased had been deposited at Bibiani Government Hospital.
