Description
JOB PURPOSE:
To manage the company’s transport operations by ensuring the efficient utilization of fleet resources, the safety and performance of drivers, and the timely delivery to meet customer expectations.
MAIN DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Oversee the maintenance, servicing, and inspection of all company vehicles to ensure roadworthiness.
- Develop and implement a quarterly fleet maintenance program to prevent breakdowns and reduce downtime.
- Monitor vehicle performance and address maintenance or replacement needs promptly.
- Lead the requisition and procurement of mechanical materials as needed.
- Maintain accurate and updated records of vehicle licenses, permits, and other required documentation.
- Supervise and manage the team of drivers, ensuring adherence to company performance and safety standards.
- Address driver grievances and provide solutions to enhance job satisfaction.
- Conduct regular safety training and briefings to reinforce best practices and compliance with health and safety regulations.
- Ensure all drivers comply with company policies, safety regulations, and legal transport requirements.
- Supervise daily fleet operations to ensure smooth and timely deliveries.
- Analyze and optimize delivery routes to improve efficiency and reduce fuel and operational costs.
- Implement strategies to reduce downtime and enhance fleet utilization.
- Monitor and track fuel consumption, maintenance costs, and other operational expenses to minimize waste and inefficiencies.
- Prepare and submit weekly transport reports to the Operations Manager.
- Undertake any other duties as assigned.
