Job Purpose

To operate, monitor, and maintain the Effluent Treatment Plant (ETP) and/or Water Treatment Plant (WTP) to ensure compliance with environmental standards and continuous supply of treated water for plant operations.

Key Responsibilities

1. Plant Operations

• Operate ETP/WTP systems including pumps, valves, filters, clarifiers, and chemical dosing units.


• Monitor treatment processes to ensure proper functioning and efficiency.


• Maintain required flow rates, pressure levels, and chemical dosing.

2. Monitoring & Testing

• Conduct routine water quality tests (pH, TDS, turbidity, COD, BOD, etc.).


• Record and maintain accurate logs of operational parameters.


• Adjust treatment processes based on test results.

3. Maintenance

• Perform routine inspection and preventive maintenance of equipment.


• Identify faults and report breakdowns promptly.


• Assist in repair and troubleshooting of plant equipment.

4. Compliance & Safety

• Ensure treated water and discharged effluent meet regulatory standards.


• Follow all environmental, health, and safety (EHS) guidelines.


• Handle and store chemicals safely (e.g., chlorine, coagulants).

5. Documentation & Reporting

• Maintain daily operational logs and reports.


• Record chemical consumption and stock levels.


• Report abnormalities, incidents, and deviations to supervisors.

6. Housekeeping

• Maintain cleanliness of the plant and surrounding area.


• Ensure proper disposal of sludge and waste materials.

Key Performance Indicators (KPIs)

• Compliance with environmental discharge standards


• Plant uptime and operational efficiency


• Accuracy of water quality parameters


• Reduction in chemical and energy consumption


• Timely reporting and documentation

Qualifications & Experience

• Education: Diploma / HND in Mechanical, Chemical, Environmental Engineering or related field


• Experience: 1–3 years in ETP/WTP operations (Fresh graduates may be considered for junior roles)


• Experience in manufacturing or industrial setup is an advantage

Skills & Competencies

• Basic knowledge of water treatment processes


• Ability to operate pumps, motors, and control panels


• Understanding of laboratory testing procedures


• Good record-keeping and reporting skills


• Attention to detail and problem-solving ability
