A Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or a related field. Minimum of 10 years of relevant work experience, including at least 4 years in a supervisory role within a manufacturing facility. Certification in Project Management and/or Manufacturing-related Health & Safety protocols is preferred. First Aid training and Forklift Operator certification are a plus (training can be provided if needed). Written and verbal fluency in English is required, along with verbal fluency in Twi and/or Dagbani. Strong communication and organizational skills with a demonstrated ability to train and mentor team members and program beneficiaries. Proficiency in spreadsheets (Google Sheets preferred), digital filing systems, email, calendars, and document processing (Google Docs or Microsoft Word). Experience managing a team of at least five direct reports at the supervisor level. Familiarity with CAD software is a plus. Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment. A strong interest in sustainability and a community service mindset is essential.

The Or Foundation’s Material Research and Development department exists to develop new business models, tools, materials, products, and services that create living wage jobs and stop post-consumer textiles from becoming waste and driving people into debt. 

The production manager is responsible for overseeing daily operations of the various workflows that enable the transformation of large volumes of secondhand clothing waste into value-added products. These processes include collection, sorting, shredding, fiberboard production and product manufacturing. Key responsibilities include ensuring production efficiency, maintaining quality standards, and promoting a safe working environment. This role requires strong leadership skills, excellent organizational abilities, a commitment to fostering teamwork among staff, and the ability to work in a dynamic, fast-paced environment. The production manager will work closely with production, engineering and facilities teams to achieve production goals, implement process improvements, and meet customer expectations as well as serve as a mentor to develop transferable skills among our internal team and community apprentices.
