Description
JOB PURPOSE:
The Chef shall be responsible for managing kitchen operations, overseeing food preparation, and ensuring high-quality dishes are consistently delivered in the lounge.
MAIN DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Supervise and manage the daily operations of the kitchen, ensuring timely and high-quality food preparation.
- Oversee and coordinate the activities of all kitchen staff, including chefs, cooks, and kitchen assistants.
- Assist in menu planning, recipe development, and introducing new dishes or specials.
- Ensure that all food is prepared according to lounge recipes, presentation standards, and portion control guidelines.
- Maintain strict hygiene, health, and safety standards in the kitchen, including proper food storage and handling procedures.
- Monitor stock levels, order ingredients as necessary, and manage inventory to minimize wastage.
- Train, mentor, and evaluate kitchen staff performance, ensuring high standards of teamwork and professionalism.
- Ensure all kitchen equipment is properly maintained and used safely.
- Coordinate with front-of-house staff and bartenders to meet service standards and guest expectations.
- Manage food cost control, including monitoring purchasing, waste, and portion sizes.
- Handle guest complaints or special requests professionally and escalate issues when required.
- Maintain kitchen documentation, including daily production sheets, temperature logs, and inventory records.
- Adhere strictly to all company policies, operational procedures, and dress code requirements.
- Attend pre-shift briefings and contribute to operational planning.
Perform any other duties reasonably assigned by the Head Chef or Line Manager.
