Summary:
The Finance Manager will be responsible for overseeing the effective financial management, planning,
monitoring, and reporting of the organization’s annual program budget. This includes ensuring cost
control, client and donor compliance, insightful financial analysis, and supporting strategic decision-
making for program implementation.
Key Responsibilities:
Budget Planning and Management
• Lead the preparation of the annual program budgets in close collaboration with relevant
stakeholders.
• Track budget utilization and ensure timely reallocations and re-forecasts based on project
dynamics.
• Develop variance analysis reports and advise management on course corrections.
• Ensure alignment of financial planning with programmatic goals and funding requirements.
Project Financial Oversight
• Ensure robust financial monitoring and reporting across all project streams, including restricted
and unrestricted funding, as well as Overheads.
• Coordinate reporting cycles and ensure accuracy and timeliness of financial submissions.
Financial Controls and Compliance
• Strengthen internal controls and enforce compliance with internal policies, donor guidelines, and
statutory requirements.
• Liaise with auditors and regulatory authorities during audits and reviews.
• Ensure risk mitigation strategies are embedded in all financial processes.
Analytics and Strategic Insights
• Use analytics tools to extract, visualize, and interpret data to guide program effectiveness and
financial efficiency.
• Provide ad hoc financial modelling and analysis as required by leadership.
Team and Stakeholder Collaboration
• Lead and develop the finance team supporting the projects, ensuring capacity building and
performance monitoring.
• Serve as a finance business partner to project managers, M&E, and other support units.
• Participate in senior management meetings and contribute to strategic planning.
Required Qualifications & Experience:
Education:
• Master’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or related discipline.
• A Chartered Accountant (CA, ACCA, CPA or equivalent) is mandatory.
• Certification or formal training in Project Management is an added advantage.
Experience:
• Minimum of 5 years in a managerial finance role, preferably in a multinational or program-driven
organization.
• Demonstrated experience managing large annual budgets and multiple projects financials.
• Proven track record of leading financial planning cycles, donor reporting, and internal/external
audits.
Technical Skills:
• Strong proficiency in financial reporting systems (e.g., SAGE X3).
• Advanced skills in Excel, Power BI, or other business intelligence tools.
• Familiarity with financial modelling.
• Working knowledge of Taxation, IFRS and donor compliance frameworks.
