The Ghana Football Association (GFA) has announced that the winner of the 2025/26 Ghana Premier League will receive a record-breaking ?2 million in prize money.
The landmark announcement was made by GFA President Kurt Edwin Simeon Okraku during the 31st Ordinary Congress held on Tuesday, August 12, 2025, at the Ghanaman Soccer Centre of Excellence in Prampram. In addition to the cash prize, the champions will receive a trophy and 40 gold medals.
The first runner-up will earn ?1 million and 40 silver medals, while the second runner-up will take home ?800,000 and 40 bronze medals. The rest of the league will also benefit from a new performance-based prize structure, with payouts ranging from ?750,000 for fourth place to ?200,000 for 15th place.
“This is a story that has never been told, but today it’s being told,” Okraku declared. “It has been our gospel according to our Premier League. Every point is important, and now there’s ?2 million as prize money.”
The GFA believes the revamped prize structure will enhance competitiveness, boost financial stability, reduce player exodus, and attract new investment into the domestic game.
The 2025/26 Ghana Premier League kicks off on September 12, 2025.
