The Ghana Football Association (GFA) has approved a constitutional amendment extending the presidential term limit from two to three terms.
The decision was taken at the 31st Ordinary Session of Congress on Tuesday, August 12, 2025, at the Ghanaman Soccer Centre of Excellence in Prampram.
Out of 124 members present, 114 voted in favour of the proposal, signalling overwhelming support for the change.
The amendment takes immediate effect, allowing GFA presidents to serve up to three four-year terms.
The session also approved the elevation of the Women’s Football Representative on the GFA Executive Council to the role of Second Vice-President, in a move designed to bolster gender representation at the top level of football governance.
Tuesday’s meeting brought together key stakeholders, including representatives from the Premier League, Division One League, Women’s Premier League, regional football associations, the Professional Footballers Association of Ghana, and other constituent bodies.
