Delta Air Lines has been named the third best company on the 2025 PEOPLE Companies That Care list, an annual ranking that recognises organisations where employees go above and beyond for one another, for customers, for communities and for the planet.
The recognition is based on more than 1.3 million employee survey responses and company data, representing the workplace experience of over 8.4 million employees across the United States.
For Delta, earning a top position means the airline has surpassed strict benchmarks that assess care, trust and commitment at all levels of the company.
Of the 1.3 million survey responses collected, more than one million came directly from employees at companies eligible for this year’s list, with the rankings determined by that feedback.
Delta’s Chief People Officer, Allison Ausband, said the recognition reflected the company’s unique culture, shaped by its people.
“Delta people demonstrate a deep level of care in everything they do it’s the Delta Difference. I am inspired by the actions of the more than 100,000 people who make Delta, the Delta experience and the world a better place,” she said.
One of the key initiatives that sets Delta apart is the Delta Care Fund, a non-profit organisation led and funded by employees, which provides financial assistance to colleagues in crisis.
In 2024, more than $6.6 million in grants were distributed to staff members facing unexpected personal challenges.
Alongside this, Delta’s emergency savings programme has supported 49,000 employees in building financial resilience by starting savings accounts, receiving financial coaching, and completing educational courses.
Delta employees also contribute significantly to community causes. In 2024, they raised $18 million in partnership with customers to support seven long-standing non-profit organisations.
Volunteering has been another area of strength, with Delta people logging 124,000 volunteer hours last year in activities ranging from building homes and playgrounds to packing meals and planting trees.
The airline has also led corporate blood drives in the United States, collecting 15,585 units for the American Red Cross in 2024, keeping its position as the number one corporate sponsor for the eighth consecutive year.
Alongside employee welfare and community support, Delta has prioritised environmental sustainability.
Through its Carbon Council, GreenUp Business Resource Group and other projects, the airline has advanced efforts to reduce emissions and has committed to reaching net-zero by 2050.
These initiatives, according to the company, reflect a belief that caring for the planet is as important as caring for people.
The PEOPLE Companies That Care list is compiled using 60 employee experience questions from the Great Place To Work Trust Index survey, as well as essays submitted by participating companies.
This combination of quantitative data and qualitative input is designed to measure the consistency of care within a workplace and how it extends to wider communities.
By placing third, Delta has positioned itself among the leading employers in the country for 2025, recognised not only for business performance but for the values its people uphold.
