The Coconut Grove Beach Resort at Elmina has marked its 30th anniversary celebrating its immense impact on transforming the economy of the area.
The Global Chairman for Groupe Nduom, Dr Papa Kwesi Nduom, who established the facility, said his fulfilment in the three decades of the resort stemmed from the immense impact its operations had had on the employees and their families.
The event, which attracted personalities from across the country to the hotel, was also used to mark this year's Nine Lessons and Carols Service.
The reading of the bible lessons was interspersed with joyful renditions of songs that warmed the hearts of the audience.
Coconut Grove Beach Resort, situated at Elmina, has over the last 30 years contributed immensely to Ghana's tourism and hospitality sector and that of the Central Region in particular.
Dr Nduom said the Coconut Grove Resort at Elmina had over the years grown to become a credible facility attracting renowned personalities from across the globe.
He said the facility had also attracted and continued to attract clients from universities in Ghana and across the globe and corporate patrons who had had amazing reviews of the facility and its services.
He thanked all stakeholders who had worked hard to make the facility a preferred destination for tourists in the Central Region and changed the face of hospitality in the region.
Touching on the future of the resort, the President of Groupe Nduom -Ghana, Dr Nana Kweku Nduom, said Coconut Grove Resort would lead the way in turning Elmina into a thriving bustling city with more hotels, schools, businesses and pharmacies, among others, in the next 30 years.
He said he was optimistic that the President-elect, John Dramani Mahama, would restore the operational licence of the defunct GN Bank in fulfilment of his pledge to revive and resource indigenous Ghanaian businesses to help boost the economy of the country.
The Manager for Coconut Grove Beach Resort, Victor Opoku Minta, underscored the excellent services the hotel had rendered to its customers over the years, saying its guests had continuously increased over the years reaching up to 12,000 a year.
He stated that the hotel had invested in many social interventions in education, health care, sanitation and, most recently, blood donation exercises.
Mr Opoku Minta pledged the management's commitment to adopt efficient operational strategies to keep it thriving, saying Coconut Grove had stayed this long in business by providing every guest with warm Ghanaian hospitality.
He said the immediate future would see further investments into enhancing the hotel's facilities while ensuring the guest experience was better on every new visit.
The Executive Chairperson of Coconut Grove Hotels, Yvonne Nduom, said the facility began as a 12-room hotel with one executive unit.
She said in choosing the name they combined the coconut they had found on the land and the mangrove around the land to arrive at the Coconut Grove.
She said it was heartwarming to know that seven of the original employees were still working at the facility.
She thanked the dedicated and hardworking staff and loyal clients for working with them, pledging that management would work to improve customer satisfaction.
