Dr. Kofi Konadu Apraku, Minister for Regional Cooperation and the New Partnership for Africa Development (NEPAD) on Monday said the nation that the five countries of the second monetary zone were working hard to ensure that the introduction of the Eco became successful.<br> <br> Speaking in Accra at the opening ceremony of a two-day workshop for the training of trainers for 70 participants from three districts in Greater Accra and some staff of the National Commission on Civic Education (NCCE), Civil Society Groups (CSG's) and Non-Governmental Organisations (NGO's), Dr. Apraku said leaders of the zone were determined to ensure that the Eco came into fruition. A statement Mr Ahmed Osumanu Halid, Media Relations Officer signed said Dr Apraku enumerated some of the benefits of the Eco when introduced to include enlarging the market of the sub-region, improving the integration process and promoting trade and investment among the five member countries.<br><br> He therefore, called on all professionals in the industry to work hard to enable the country to meet the criteria set for the introduction of the 2nd monetary zone. Mrs. Doris Achaempong, Greater Accra Regional Director of NCCE, said the ECOWAS sub-region would achieve a lot when the two currencies, Eco and CFA merged, thus there was the need for a concerted effort to achieve that.
