Mrs Mary Brobbey, Ashanti Regional Women's Organizer of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), has stressed the need for Ghanaians to preach peace in the run-up to the December 7 elections.
He noted that the country had over the years achieved stability, democracy and development and hoped that would be sustained at all times.
Mrs Brobbey was preaching a sermon at the opening of a three-day retreat and prayers organized by the Society of Widows, Widowers and Couples to ensure peace in the December 7 polls at Old Tafo in Kumasi on Wednesday.
It was attended by members of the society and Christian women from various churches under the theme: "Behold, how good and pleasant for brethren to dwell together in unity".
She said no country could develop in an atmosphere of violence, chaos, intimidation, anarchy and others and asked Ghanaians to pray unceasingly to God for peace to prevail in the country before, during and after the elections.
Mrs Brobbery appealed to political parties to conduct their campaigns in a decent and peaceful manner to avoid confrontations.
She emphasised the need for Ghanaians to unite and contribute their quota towards the nation building to supplement the efforts of the government and improve the living conditions of the people.
Prophetess Theresah Agyei Atwerebour, President of the Society, urged Ghanaians to eschew selfishness, nepotism, bribery and corruption, greed, rumours and others which affected socio-economic development of the country.
She appealed to Churches, Moslems, and Civil Society Organizations to join hands to preach peace.
