Team Ghana's Adu Moslena Ama Korama and Quarcoo Racheal delivered the nation’s first gold medal in the girls’ doubles event. In a thrilling final, the duo overcame Nigeria’s Adekunle Feranmi Cynthia and Adekunle Oluwagbotemi, winning 2-1 in sets.
Ghana claimed a second gold in the mixed doubles category, with Adu-Mintah Obapomba teaming up with Adu Moslena Ama Korama to defeat Nigeria’s Edun David Damilare and Adekunle Feranmi Cynthia in a tightly contested match. The final score was 2-1 (21-16, 19-21, 21-17).
The matches kept the crowd on the edge of their seats, as young athletes displayed exceptional skill, resilience, and sportsmanship throughout the tournament.
This impressive performance highlights Ghana’s rising dominance in youth badminton on the African continent.
Held from Saturday, July 26 to Tuesday, July 29, the African School Games featured athletes aged 14 to 17 from seven African countries. The Mixed Team Relay and other competitions provided a vibrant platform for showcasing young talent and promoting continental unity through sport.
The event was organized by the Association of National Olympic Committees of Africa (ANOCA) in partnership with the International School Sport Federation (ISF) and the International Olympic Committee (IOC).
The Games mark a historic initiative to nurture the next generation of African athletes and promote Olympic values, sports development, and cross-cultural collaboration across the continent.
