Asante Kotoko’s in-form striker, Albert Amoah, headlines a trio of standout performers nominated for the NASCO Player of the Month award for May/June in the Ghana Premier League.
The prestigious monthly honour, which recognises players for exceptional performance during the period under review, also features Kingsley Braye of Medeama SC and Kelvin Ampoful of Nations FC as contenders.
Amoah's nomination comes on the back of an explosive run in front of goal, having scored four goals in five matches, including a sensational hat-trick against Medeama in the penultimate round of the season.
Braye, who has been pivotal in Medeama’s attack, scored three goals and won one NASCO Player of the Match award, while Ampoful matched that tally with three goals in five games and distinguished himself further by claiming three NASCO Player of the Match honours.
In the goalkeeping department, Benjamin Asare of Hearts of Oak is the frontrunner for the NASCO.
Goalkeeper of the Month award. Asare kept three clean sheets in four matches, conceded just one goal, and helped the Phobians go unbeaten while securing three wins.
He faces stiff competition from Lawrence Osei of Heart of Lions, who kept two clean sheets and conceded two goals in four appearances, and Rabin Ousmane Sanon of Nations FC.
Sanon, the Burkinabe shot-stopper, who earned back-to-back nominations, has also kept two clean sheets and helped his team to three wins, though he conceded three goals in four games.
The Coach of the Month category sees Hearts of Oak’s Aboubakar Ouattara leading the nominees. The Burkinabe tactician guided the Phobians to four wins and a draw in five matches, with his side scoring seven goals and conceding just one during the period.
Ouattara is up against Nurudeen Amadu of Karela United, who masterminded his side’s escape from relegation with three wins and one defeat, scoring seven goals and conceding twice.
Coach Agyemang of Vision FC also makes the shortlist after guiding his team to three victories and one defeat, with a goal tally of seven scored and four conceded.
