Asante Kotoko SC has announced the appointment of club legend Malik Jabir as their new technical director, marking the return of one of the most celebrated figures in the club's history.
The Porcupine Warriors made the announcement on their official X (formerly Twitter) account, expressing enthusiasm about Jabir's return to bolster their technical team. Jabir, a two-time CAF Champions League winner, brings a wealth of experience and a deep understanding of the club's culture and aspirations.
The move sees Malik Jabir take over from Sudan coach Kwasi Appiah, who previously held the role. However, Appiah will remain part of the club's management team, ensuring that his expertise and insights continue to guide Kotoko’s broader strategic direction.
This announcement follows recent adjustments within the club's leadership, including the removal of head coach Prosper Narteh Ogum from the Interim Management Committee. Ogum has been instructed to focus exclusively on his responsibilities as head coach.
Kotoko’s recent performance has been under scrutiny, with a four-match losing streak causing concern among fans and stakeholders. The team’s 2-0 victory over Aduana Stars marked a much-needed turnaround, and the addition of Malik Jabir is expected to provide renewed momentum in their pursuit of domestic glory.
The club’s management believes Jabir’s appointment will solidify their technical capacity as they aim to reclaim their position at the top of Ghanaian football.
Malik Jabir's return is seen as a strategic step toward revitalising the team and leveraging his legacy and expertise to inspire a new era of success for the Porcupine Warriors.
