Former National Vice Chairman of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Sammy Crabbe, has criticised the party’s General Secretary, Justin Frimpong Kodua, over his handling of comments made by former Environment Minister, Professor Kwabena Frimpong-Boateng.
His criticism follows a statement issued by Justin Frimpong Kodua condemning Prof. Frimpong-Boateng’s remarks as “highly reprehensible” and inconsistent with the party’s values, integrity and unity.
The statement further indicated that the party had invoked relevant provisions of its constitution to commence processes to expel Prof. Frimpong-Boateng expulsion from the party.
Prof. Frimpong-Boateng, a former Minister for Environment, Science, Technology and Innovation, in an interview with Bernard Avle on Channel One TV’s The Point of View on Monday, January 12, 2026, criticised the current state of the NPP, saying it no longer reflects the values of the party he once knew.
Speaking on Channel One TV’s Citiuation Room on Thursday, January 15, Sammy Crabbe argued that the language used by the General Secretary in his statement undermined the credibility of the disciplinary process and appeared to confirm Prof. Frimpong-Boateng’s concerns about the party’s internal procedures.
According to him, the General Secretary’s statement amounted to a pronouncement of guilt even before the matter had been referred for proper investigation.
“It seems to me that the letter that was issued and the interview I heard from the General Secretary goes to actually validate what he [Prof. Frimpong Boateng] has been saying.
“First of all, if he has done anything contrary to our laws, as a General Secretary, you are a man of authority and you stand as a ‘party’. You do not pronounce the outcome. You do not say that you are sending the guy to the National Disciplinary Committee or NEC for him to be expelled, but that is what is in the letter. It is kind of instructing the Disciplinary Committee to expel the gentleman,” he said.
He stressed that under the party’s constitution, the role of the disciplinary committee is to independently investigate the matter, conduct an impartial inquiry and submit a report with its findings and reasons.
However, Sammy Crabbe maintained that by appearing to reach a conclusion before the committee’s work, the General Secretary had effectively validated Prof. Frimpong-Boateng’s argument about weaknesses in the party’s internal justice system.
“He has found him guilty before he even has the chance to be processed through the internal justice procedural systems,” he said.
