A former Presiding Member of the then Zabzugu/Tatale District Assembly, Edward Dawuni Abebe Atta, has appealed to President John Mahama to nominate a District Chief Executive (DCE) from one of the four persons who were vetted for appointment for the area.
He said the delay in the appointment of a DCE for the Tatale/ Sanguli District was affecting the accelerated development of the area.
Mr Dawuni made the appeal during an interaction with the media in Yendi in the Northern Region over the weekend.
Mr Atta said resetting the country meant that the entire citizenry must be involved in the decision-making process, but said unfortunately the people in the Tatale/ Sanguli District had lagged behind as they did not have a DCE.
He indicated that since the Member of Parliament for the constituency, Ntebe Ayo William, was in Accra and that there was no DCE, it meant that no political activity was going on.
Although he said the Northern Region Minister, Ali Adolf, and the District Coordinating Director, Haruna Abdulai, were managing the area, it was important the area got a DCE as early as possible for development
Mr Atta commended Mr Ali Adolf, the Northern Regional Minister, for ensuring that all the 14 Northern Region Metropolitan, Municipal, and District Chief Executives who were nominated by the president were approved by their assemblies with the exception of Tatale/ Sanguli and Kpandai DCEs.
He appealed to the president to treat as urgent the appointment of a DCE for Tatale/Sanguli District.
