The Commonwealth Observer Mission has praised Ghana’s 2024 elections as free, fair, and transparent.
Despite instances of violence that led to at least four deaths and a challenging post-election period, the country has received commendation for the overall conduct of the polls.
Mokgweetsi Masisi, leader of the Commonwealth Observer Mission, expressed his appreciation for the role of the police during a debriefing with the National Election Security Taskforce.
“It’s significant to applaud the conduct of the 2024 elections in Ghana because, in terms of the criteria established, they qualified as free, fair, transparent and decisive.
“The police in Ghana played an extremely important role of being the referee of law and order, the keeper of peace, without the use of force.”
