The Ghana Air Traffic Safety Electronics Association (GHATSEA) has announced plans to embark on an indefinite industrial action starting Thursday, October 30, 2025, over what it describes as years of neglect, unfair treatment, and mismanagement by the Ghana Civil Aviation Authority (GCAA).
In a press statement issued Tuesday by the president of the association, David Annan Mensah said the members, who are responsible for maintaining the communication, navigation, and surveillance systems that ensure flight safety, have endured over 15 years of unresolved grievances relating to salary disparities, poor job placements, and welfare issues.
“Our patience has been stretched beyond measure, and the silence and inaction on issues that directly affect the morale, motivation, and welfare of key technical professionals have left us deeply disgruntled, demoralised, and disrespected,” the statement signed by GHATSEA President, David Annan Mensah, stated.
GHATSEA warned that once the strike begins, the availability, reliability, and integrity of crucial air navigation systems such as VHF/HF radios, radar, ILS, VSAT, and AWOS at Kotok? International Airport, Tamale, Kumasi, Sunyani, Ho, and Wa Airports will not be guaranteed.
