The Eastern Regional Commander of the Ghana National Fire Service (GNFS), ACFO Timothy Osafo Affum, has disclosed that the region recorded a total of 529 fire incidents and 176 rescue operations within the first three quarters of 2025.

These incidents resulted in an estimated damage to property valued at GH?43,534,806.00, while properties worth GH?95,220,990.00 were salvaged by the fire service.
Addressing a gathering at the commissioning of a new fire station at Boso in the Asuogyaman District, ACFO Timothy Osafo Affum who highlighted the extent of devastation caused by fires in the region over the past months indicated that the new Boso station will significantly support efforts in combating the rising number of fire cases in the region.
“For the first three quarters of 2025, the Eatern region has recorded a total of 529 fire incidents and 126 rescue operations respectively. These incidents resulted in an estimated cost of damage to property worth GHC43,534,806 as well as GHC95,220, 990,” he stated.
The District Chief Executive for Asuogyaman, Godwin Bobobee who described fire outbreaks as one of the most destructive hazards facing the nation stressed that the consequences of uncontrolled fires are far-reaching, often resulting in the tragic loss of lives, property, and national productivity.
On his part, the Director of Legal Affairs at the Ghana National Fire Service, DCFO James Oheneba Yaw Kwarteng, called for cooperation with fire personnel and cautioned against acts of vandalism, aggression, or assault toward fire officers.
