The names of 60 private schools where the government has extended the Free Senior High School (SHS) policy to include have been published by the Ministry of Education.
Since the policy's inception by the Akufo-Addo administration in 2017, it has covered only public schools and this is the first time students in private schools are going to benefit from the policy.
A statement released by the Ministry of Education on Monday said the inclusion of private institutions was aimed at reducing congestion in public senior high schools and expanding access to quality education, regardless of whether students attend public or private schools.
Parents and guardians have therefore been encouraged to verify the list of approved private schools through the Ministry of Education, the Ghana Education Service (GES), or the GNACOPS platforms.
