As part of efforts to contribute to education interventions in the Adentan Municipal Assembly (AdMA), the Assembly has commissioned a 14-unit classroom Community School block.
The edifice provides ancillary parts that create an inclusive and accessible environment for pupils with disabilities, as well as washrooms.
The Assembly handed over the Community School block to the Adentan Education Directorate in a ceremony on Friday, January 3.
The Assembly also commissioned and handed over a two-unit kindergarten classroom block with washrooms to the Amrahia Basic School in the Municipal.
This was necessitated by the deplorable state of the Basic Schools’ old KG block and to also create a conducive learning environment for the KG pupils.
Speaking to Citi News, Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) for the Adentan Constituency, Ebenezer Doku stated that the completion of the projects which were started by his predecessors was needed to enhance education provision for Adenta.
He further called on teachers and management to put the facilities to good use and maintain them.
“I think that I am happy I’m seeing the commission of these projects, even though I am leaving. It is my prayer that others who would come after me, those who continue with the project that I left. And then we can also maintain these projects that have been put up. Maintenance is key.
“That’s why I’ve told the patient that as much as possible the teachers should take care of this project, especially this one which will house kids. We have very good washroom facilities in there for both parents, for both teachers, chest and their kids. And it is my prayer that you put it in,” he stated.
The Director of Education for the Adentan Municipal Assembly, Gifty Mussey, expressed excitement over the structures and appealed to the Assembly to construct a fence to safeguard the Amrahia Basic School.
” So we’ll be grateful if funds will come in and complete those abandoned structures for us for our learners to get classrooms to learn. So we are so much grateful to assembly and we look forward to receiving more from assembly. As a municipal director, I’m so happy that my learners now have a conducive classroom atmosphere,” she stated.
