The President and Commander-in-Chief of the Ghana Armed Forces, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo has congratulated Major General Anita Asmah; the newly appointed Head of Mission and Force Commander of the United Nations Disengagement Observer Force (UNDOF).
President Akufo-Addo celebrated the milestone achievement when the trailblazing Ghanaian military officer; the first African woman to be appointed UN Force Commander, paid a courtesy call on him to announce her new role and seek the guidance of the President.
At the meeting, President Nana Addo expressed his delight and congratulated Major General Anita Asmah for her outstanding service and achievements.
He noted that the year has been remarkable for women in Ghana, highlighting Major General Asmah’s appointment and the election of Honourable Shirley Ayorkor Botwe as the Commonwealth Secretary General.
Pesent at the meeting were the Chief of the Defence Staff, Lieutenant General Thomas Oppong- Peprah and the National Security Adviser, Brigadier General Okyere (Rtd).
