The Ministry of Health has confirmed that construction work at the La General Hospital remains active and has not been paused, countering recent reports from Accra-based TV3 suggesting a project halt.
In a statement released on October 28, signed by the Ministry’s Public Relations Officer, the Ministry reassured La residents and the general public of steady progress, stating that various stages of construction have been accelerated in recent weeks to ensure the project meets its scheduled completion.
"The Government of Ghana is fully committed to seeing this vital healthcare facility operational as soon as possible, understanding its importance to the community and the wider healthcare system", the statement said.
The Ministry confirmed that the contractor responsible for the project has submitted a payment certificate as part of routine operational procedures.
It clarified that this was a standard procedure for all government-funded projects, designed to ensure transparency and adherence to financial protocols.
"This in no way indicates a halt of the project, rather, it is a necessary step to guarantee the continuity of work", the statement added.
The Ministry urged media outlets to consult its office for accurate information before publishing reports that may cause undue public concern.
