An earthquake measuring 5.0 on the Richter Scale hit the south Yellow Sea off Shanghai coast Wednesday morning.
According to the China Earthquake Networks Center the quake hit at 9:19 a m (Beijing Time).
The epicentre was monitored at 33.3 degrees north latitude and 123.9 degrees east longitude with a depth of 10 kilometres, the centre said.
Some residents in Pudong and other areas of Shanghai Municipality said they experienced the quake but there were no reports of damage so far.
