A labourer at a diamond mine charged with four counts of threat of harm, resisting arrest, offensive conduct and causing harm has been remanded in prison custody by the Kade District Magistrate's court.
The plea of Wofa Yaw was not taken and he will re-appear on April 29.
Police Inspector A. T. Nartey said on December 24 last year, a farmer informed the complainant that he had spotted the accused and two of his
friends harvesting crops on the complainant's farm.
The complainant went to the farm and found that cocoyam had been harvested from a portion of the farm and suspected the accused and his
friends to be responsible for the theft.
The complainant confronted the accused and his friends who got angry and insulted him.
The regent of the village advised the complainant to forget about the incident and the complainant took his advice.
Then on January 4 the complainant went to his farm and while there the accused came to the farm armed with a cutlass and threatened to butcher the
complainant.
The complainant ran away and made a report to the police.
Police went to the village to arrest the accused but he resisted but the police overpowered him and took him to the Akwatia Police station.
