Mr Samuel Ofosu-Ampofo, the Eastern Regional Minister, has appealed to candidates of the Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE) to do independent work to forestall any cancellation of their papers.
He told them that the examination was based on what they had been taught over the years and therefore they must carefully read and understand
the questions to be able to answer them well to score good marks to enable them continue their education.
The Regional Minister said this when he went round some of the examination centres in the New Juaben Municipality on Monday, the first day
of this year's BECE to monitor how the examination was going on and to encourage the candidates.
He was accompanied by the Deputy Regional Minister, Mr Ahmed Baba-Jamal, New Juaben Municipal Chief Executive, Mr Alex Asamoah and the Regional Director of Education, Mrs Renee Boakye-Boateng.
The Regional Minister and his entourage visited Koforidua SECTECH, Pope John and GHANASS centres and it was only at the GHANASS Centre that
one candidate was absent at the time of the visit
In all 2,770 candidates from 54 public and 23 private schools including 1,357 girls and 1,413 boys are taking part in the examination in the New
Juaben Municipality spread over 8 centres.
