U.S. Vice President Joe Biden's mother died on Friday at 92.
Biden said in a statement that his mother, Catherine Eugenia " Jean" Finnegan Biden, passed away peacefully at their home in Wilmington,
Delaware, with her family members present.
"At 92, she was the center of our family and taught all of her children that family is to be treasured, loyalty is paramount and faith will guide you through the tough times," he said.
The vice president rushed back home from Washington, D.C. on Thursday to be with his mother after she fell seriously ill.
His parents were married for 61 years before his father died in 2002.
