The Ministry of Trade and Industry announced
on Friday that granting of exemption from destination inspection of certain categories or values of commercial imports has been suspended.
A statement signed by the Minister, Ms Hannah Tetteh, said the suspension would be in force pending the regularisation of the legal authority of the Minister to grant such exemptions.
"Importers are therefore to bear with the Ministry during the process of regularisation and clear their goods by paying the levies," it said.
The statement said it was hoped the situation would be rectified during the next meeting of Parliament.
