The GOIL Group Chief Executive Officer and Managing Director, Edward Bawa, says the company purchases about 30 per cent of its finished petroleum products from domestic refineries.
According to him, GOIL sources some of its products locally from the Tema Oil Refinery and the Sentuo Oil Refinery, depending on prevailing market conditions.
Mr Bawa made the disclosure during an interview with Bernard Avle on Channel One TV’s The Point of View on Monday, March 16.
He explained that the proportion of locally sourced products cannot exceed 30 per cent due to the limited refining capacity within the country.
“It will obviously not be more than 30 per cent because generally the in-country capacity is not enough for us to get more. But at least it is not more than 30 per cent,” he said.
Mr Bawa noted, however, that petroleum products sourced from domestic refineries are generally more affordable compared to imported supplies.
“The products we get in the country are comparatively cheaper,” he added.
