The Managing Director of the Metro Mass Transit Limited (MMT), Ceasar Kale, has said the transport company has seen an increase in its monthly revenue, which now stands between GH¢13 million and GH¢14 million, from a previous average of GH¢8.7 million—despite operating with a reduced number of buses.

Speaking in a radio interview with Class FM on Monday [October 6, 2025], Mr Kale highlighted ongoing turnaround efforts focused on improving operational efficiency, revenue collection, and customer service.

He attributed the revenue growth to several key interventions, including the introduction of digital ticketing systems, enhanced route management, and strict monitoring to curb revenue leakages across MMT depots nationwide.

“Pilfering has significantly reduced,” he noted. “While my predecessors were routing around 160 buses daily, we are currently operating with 115 to 129 buses. Yet, through prudent management and innovation, we've managed to grow our monthly revenue substantially.”

Mr. Kale explained that revenue leakages, particularly involving drivers and conductors, had historically drained company income. However, new controls and automation have minimized these losses.

“Our parcel division, which had just 40% coverage, is now automated and operating at nearly 98% coverage nationwide,” he revealed. “Yes, some revenue may still be lost, but it’s now insignificant compared to what we inherited.”

Looking ahead, he said MMT is working to expand its fleet and modernise operations, with new buses expected under government-backed initiatives aimed at strengthening Ghana’s public transport sector.

Mr. Kale expressed optimism about MMT’s financial recovery, stating that sustained improvements will enable better service delivery and support the government’s broader objective of providing affordable, efficient, and reliable public transport for all Ghanaians.
