Pre-eminent African law firm Bowmans has won the Legal Services - Private Equity Award at the Annual Africa Global Funds (AGF) Africa Service Providers Awards held in Cape Town last night (14 November 2024).
The AGF Service Providers Awards are the only international awards in African fund services. Winning an award serves as a prestigious symbol of excellence.
The firm has collected numerous awards in 2024:
On 13 November, the firm won the African Law Firm of the Year award at the annual International Employment Lawyer Awards event. This is the second consecutive year that Bowmans has won this award.
In September, the firm took home seven trophies at the African Legal Awards, including the overall African Law Firm of the Year Award.
In April, Bowmans secured a range of prestigious honours at the IFLR Africa Awards including the coveted titles of Africa Law Firm of the Year and National Law Firm of the Year: Tanzania.
In February, the firm placed first by deal value in the M&A Transactions category at the DealMakers Awards and was also recognised for having advised on the transaction named Private Equity Deal of the Year – the exit by the Carlyle Group of Tessara to AgroFresh.
In January, the firm was named Tanzania Firm of the Year at the Chambers Africa Awards.
Bowmans' head of Employment and Benefits, Helen Wilsenach, says 'To be recognised by the International Employment Lawyer makes us incredibly proud. This award is a reflection of the collective expertise and dedication of our team members in delivering strategic guidance to our clients across Africa.'
Partner, Joshua Janks, says, 'Thanks to Africa Global Funds for recognising our contribution in the African private equity space. There has recently been an uptick in deal activity. A move towards lower interest rates in developed markets is also increasing risk appetite for investments into emerging markets and we expect that 2025 will be a busy year for African investors.'
