The government says it will ensure that the Africa Oil Week (AOW): Energy 2025 maintains its Pan-African focus as it contributes to the global Oil and Gas industry.
AOW: Energy is a vital platform for discussions and innovations that have driven the sector forward, resulting in landmark projects and investments across Africa.
Mr Hebert Krapa, the Minister of State at the Minister of Energy, speaking at the Press launch of AOW: Energy 2025, said the country had a stable, peaceful atmosphere that continued to be a beacon of hope for several other countries.
The event, being organised jointly by the Sankofa Events and the Africa Prosperity Network, has been running in Cape Town, South Africa for 30-years but had to be relocated to Accra, Ghana and slated for September 15 to September 18, 2025.
AOW is committed to positioning Africa at the forefront of this dialogue, showcasing strategies for sustainable development, decarbonization, and regional supply chain strengthening whilst ensuring we have a positive and balanced approach to the energy transition.
"We have the full commitment of the government to ensure that Africa Oil Week is a success when it moves to Ghana next year," he added.
The Minister said they would invite governments, national oil companies and regulators from across the continent and the private sector as well to participate in the event.
He said Ghana was proud to host the AOW because this vital narrative needed to be told and the attention needed to be shifted to Accra, Ghana.
Mr Paul Sinclair, the Chief Executive Officer of Sankofa Events and AOW, said Ghana stood as a prime example of Africa's potential as a thriving, resource-rich nation, bolstered by a stable regulatory environment and a cosmopolitan, business-friendly outlook.
He said as a risk-adjusted producing nation, Ghana embodied what was possible when substantial natural resource potential was matched by an open, strategic approach to international partnerships.
He said, "Moving to Ghana allows us to expand our reach, foster new partnerships, and create even greater value for the African energy sector."
Mr Sinclair said they were committed to forging partnerships that secured Africa's role as a key player
in the global energy mix.
He said their objective was to make Africa the supply base for global energy demand and to ensure energy access across the continent by harnessing the untapped potential of the oil, gas, and energy sectors.
He said the partnership between AOW and APN underscored the shared vision that both APN and AOW had for socio- economic advancement across Africa.
"This collaboration is about much more than an event; it was about helping our continent realize the full potential of its natural resources, generating wealth, building capacity, and empowering economies across Africa," he added.
Mr Sinclair said APN and AOW: Energy were dedicated to creating a legacy of development that emphasised capacity building, local content empowerment, diversity, inclusion, and tangible outcomes that uplifted communities.
He commended the government for their incredible support in making the vision of bringing AOW: Energy home to Ghana a reality.
He said the collaboration brought immense opportunities not only for investment in oil, gas, and energy, but it was also a significant milestone for Ghana's business tourism and MICE sectors.
He said this would undoubtedly strengthen Ghana's position on the global stage and create a wealth of opportunities across our nation and broader region "as we host the continent in Accra in September 2025."
