A group of National Democratic congress (NDC) activists at Oforikrom in Kumasi have called for the appointment of Mr Ebenezer Terlabi, a Research Scientist, as the Metropolitan Chief Executive (MCE) for Kumasi.
They held that Mr Terlabi stands tall amongst the potential candidates for the position, citing his "creativity, good human relations, educational credentials and working experience".
Mr Mohammed Amonoo Amin and Mr Francis Djokoto, spokesmen for the group, told the Ghana news Agency in Kumasi on Monday that the job of an MCE required much expertise, hard work and commitment and that the appointment of a youthful person such as Mr Terlabi was crucial in meeting the expectations of the residents.
They said Kumasi was beset with varied socio-economic challenges such as filth, congestion on the streets and perennial water shortage in some communities.
"Being a research scientist and technocrat, Mr Terlabi is capable of using his ingenuity and academic links to solving these problems to uplift the standard of living of the people," Mr Djokoto reiterated.
Mr Terlabi was the NDC parliamentary candidate for Oforikrom in the last general elections.
