Spintex Knights, a new team in Accra Basketball League Men's Division 1, made a statement with a resounding 91-41 victory over Tema Youth last Saturday at the Prison's Basketball Court in Accra.
Despite being debutants, the Knights didn't show any signs of nerves and dominated from the start, finishing the first quarter with a 20-point lead.
Led by the impressive Elvis Pobi Siaw alias Arrow, the Knights' pass-and-move approach left their opponents struggling to keep up.
At halftime, they had a commanding 48-20 lead and by the end of the third quarter, their victory was all but certain with a 71-36 lead.
In a post-match interview, co-founder Dr. Eric Opoku-Antwi attributed the win to the team's strong pre-season preparation, including participation in a tournament in Nigeria.
The Knights' skipper, Elvis Pobi Siaw, praised the team's coach Selorm Thomas for masterminding the victory and expressed confidence that his side would win the league and qualify for the Basketball Africa League qualifiers.
Coach Thomas himself expressed his ambition to win all trophies the team competes for and represent Ghana internationally.
The Knights will face Ghana Airforce in their next ABL Division 1 game.
In other results from the weekend, Leopards defeated Airforce 71-63, University of Ghana beat Fire Service 66-59, Braves hammered CYO 88-46 and Army beat Ranix 43-11.
