Johnson took home a trophy and a golf bag for winning the men’s category, with Majdi Joher and Malclom Watson finishing second and third respectively
Louise Serfontein also received a trophy and a golf bag for winning the ladies category of the competition.

Ricus Terblance and Mary Prempeh took home Sunday bags for the Longest Drive (Hole 17), while Majdi Joher finished Closest to the Pin (Hole 18).

Objective
The SMEC Invitational tournament was organised to commemorate the company’s successful collaboration with the Millenium Development Authority (MiDA) in executing portions of the Compact Program to help solve power challenges in the country.

Speaking at the end of the tournament, Regional Manager of SMEC Ghana, Jose Fernandez, said his outfit chose to use golf as a tool to propagate their success since it provided an avenue for network.

Mr Fernandez stressed that his outfit was committed to providing assistance to the country in solving power supply challenges when necessary.

“I am a golfer and I know the social connections golf provides so we decided to use this avenue to propagate a joint success with MiDA.

“This is not going to be the end and as a company, we are committed to providing assistance to the country anytime we are called upon to do that.”

For his part, Emmanuel Mante, Operations Manager at SMEC Ghana, explained that being the programme management consultant for the project, his outfit worked hard to supervise the designs and construction works of infrastructure at site to help turn around the finances and operations of the Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG) .
