The Eastern Regional Volleyball Association, has set May 18, to commence the 2019 regional volleyball league.
Over 14 teams, are expected to participate in the competition.
They would be grouped into two zones “A’’ and “B’’.
The zone ‘’A’’ would comprise of teams from Akosombo, Asuture, Kpong, Adukrom, Odumasi, Atimpoku and Akuapem Mampong.
Zone ‘’B’’ has teams from Koforidua, Nsawam, Donkorkrom, Nkawkaw, Obomeng, Mpraeso and Akwatia.
After the group matches, the top three in each zone would qualify to the next stage of the competition.
The women’s competition would also take the same format as that of the men.
The winners of the male category would receive a cash prize of GH¢ 2,000.00 plus other incentives, while, the second placed team would take cash prize of GH¢ 1, 500.00, with the third taking home GH¢ 1,000.00.
In the women division, the winner would receive a cash prize of GH¢ 1000.00, with the second taking GH¢ 500.00 and the third receive GH¢ 250.00.
All matches would be played on Saturdays and would be governed by the rules from the Federation International de Volleyball (FIVB) of 2017 to 2019, with proper sanctions given to teams whose supporters would misconduct themselves.
Teams are not permitted to register players playing in other leagues to feature in the ERVA league.
The league, which was very active two to three seasons ago, was abandoned due to lack of sponsorship.
The Eastern Regional Volleyball Association, which is the official sponsor for this year’s league is calling on the corporate world and philanthropists to partner them to promote and raise standard of volleyball in the region.
Meanwhile, all participating teams are expected to pay GH¢ 200.00, as affiliation fees and the deadline for the registration is April 30.
